If being an actor is your dream then the first things to do, to make it true, is to wake up! Wake up and make sure you get yourself landed at auditions. Although some auditions are for invitees only there are many open auditions where you can prove your talent.

While preparing for the audition make sure not to leave any stone unturned. Just learning the lines doesn't help one should get in to the shoes of the character. You should get a feel of what kind of person you are asked to play, find out his age group, his attitude and mannerism.

All have to be incorporated by you in your performance. In order to understand the character and to perform the role to perfection you should also try and understand the relationship he shares with the other characters in the story.

No matter how much you prepare what actually counts are what you deliver on the D-Day. There is no room for compromise on this day. Make sure you are dressed according to the demands of the character. If you are playing a college lad please don't come dressed as if you are the father of a bride!

Clothes give the feel to the character and should definitely be well chosen. It is natural to have butterflies in your stomach before the audition but the important thing is that the judges should not be aware of it!

Try some stretches and vocal exercises to regain your composure. Deep breathing also goes a long way in restoring calm. The key to delivering a great performance is to be focussed, try not to talk to other people present for auditioning and read through your script instead.

When it is your turn for audition don't panic. Have a quick chat with the director, just exchange greetings to give your mind time to settle down. Once you get the signal to begin remember that it is here that you are meant to be, while performing, deliver the role as if you are performing only for yourself.

Feel free, this will ensure that you give the best of yourself. Make sure you are convinced that you are the perfect candidate for the role, unless you are sure of your abilities you will not be able to convince the jurors.
