It is always a good idea to start as early as possible. And, this is true even in the case of an Acting career. Acting for teens, therefore, is good for those who want to start early on and make a dent in this extremely competitive industry.
So, how to actually go about it?
Teenage is that stage of life when you start getting glimpses of what you might end up doing for the rest of your life. You want to go all out, explore all about what life has to offer. But, there is one handicap, however.
You have to take the advice of your parents and try to learn as much as possible from their experiences of life as well. Although this might sound crude and old fashioned, but this is the way it is in this industry. There are lots of loan sharks out there, who capitalize on people's ignorance and you must learn to stay clear of such kind of people. They will have glamorous lures for you, but you must know how to call a spade what it really is. You must learn how to talk to people and how to lay your hands onto all the backstage information, metaphorically speaking. The first step, therefore, is to get enrolled in a reputed acting school. These days, people have become much more enterprising, and hence, new schools are opening up in every nook and corner of the country. Be very careful as to finding out whether the acting school you are opting for can actually offer you all the things it promises up front. A good school would be well-known and would advertise a list of student rollout that would indicate those who ultimately made it big in the industry. Therefore, only after you have enrolled in a good acting school, you can start working whole-heartedly on sharpening your skills. Applying for as many auditions as possible is the next step in sharpening your skills. Whether you get selected or not is a different thing all together. Hence, go for not only those auditions that happen inside your school, but also for those that take place outside your school. A cliché that circulates in the industry is that actors are not made, but they are born. This is true. Hence, once you have entered this field with much contemplation, you must go all out and get as much exposure as possible. Only then you will be able to make something out of yourself. Reading books, monologues, dialogues, voice modulations, face modulations, breathing exercises, posture corrections and relaxation techniques would all be necessary to take your performance to the zenith. Finally, after you have sharpened your skills enough, you have to start recording your performances in the appropriate media and add it to your portfolio. You can expect help from your school in this aspect as well. Therefore, we see that acting for teens is right only for those who want to develop this talent into a career in the future. The rest can take it easy.
